Jerald visited Fredricksburg in the late ’70s and found it to be a, dusty, dying Texas town. It was so bad they had recently removed the parking meters in a attempt to get people to park on Main street and visit the few remaining shops in town. It’s sole claim to fame was being the childhood of of Admiral Chester Nimitz. The National Museum of the Pacific War was there and quite interesting.
Jump ahead to the current year and Fredricksburg is a thriving art oriented community that attracts people from the world over.
Fredricksburg is also close to the “Texas White House” – the home of Lyndon Baines Johnson. Unfortunatly the house was undergoing renovation and was closed to the public.
