RVs are big complicated machines. And they often break. And it happened again
From Pendleton, we drove to St Regis Montana and checked into the Nugget Campground. We’ve stayed at the Nugget before and found it quite charming.
We checked in without incident, levelled out, extended the slides and while we were hooking up utilities, we noticed an oily spot just after the wheel. We looked back there and the mud flap tire and leveller were covered in hydraulic fluid.
Omigod! we thought – we’ve blown another hydraulic line. We blew one just after we took delivery of the Motorhome and when the selling dealer told us it could take 6 months to fix, we immediately set out for Red Bay Alabama where the Motorhome was built.
Anyway, we are a bit sensitive about blown hydraulics.
After some intense poking around we discovered the problem was with the connection from the hydraulic line to the leveler itself.
Fortunately, after locating the leak,we determined that we could attempt repair. It was difficult – having to reach around the tire to the interior of the under chassis (we were not about to climb underneath motorhome with wounded levelers) – we could barely reach it with a wrench.
After a lot of grunting, and colorful language, we managed to tighten the connection so it doesn’t leak anymore.
Crisis fixed. Here’s hoping it is the last one.
