Comments: This RV park, along the shores of Lake Chapin (it’s really a river) is quite popular with folks in the area and has many seasonal campers. The seasonals, of course, get the better sites and leave the lesser sites (no sewer and 30A power) to the itinerate campers. Some of the sites are really for smaller vehicles and big rig sites can be difficult to get.
Boating and riding around in golf carts seem to be popular activities. The children ride bikes and have a nice playground to play in. The store does have boat rentals.
All of that being said, it is quite nice and worth a stay. It is in a particularly pretty part of Michigan. Management is friendly but enforces the rules rigorously so everyone can enjoy the park.
The swimming pool is fairly good sized and as with the rest of the park, well maintained. The name sake Bear Cave is an actual cave you can tour and was a stop on the Underground Railroad.
There are about 150 sites. The Bear Cave does exist and was apparently a stop along the Underground Railroad.
The approach to the park is off of Red Bud Trail (pronounced “Red Butt Trail” by our GPS) and will sneak up on you along the 55mph Red Bud Trail. It is down a gravel road, past some residential properties and has a coded gate. You should get a phone call from TT about the gate code prior to your arrival
