Caravan Days 29 thru 34 Caravan Miles176 – New Orleans and End of the Caravan

An easy run along the Interstate to Orleans was only slightly marred by a stop for fuel and one of the worst TAs we have ever seen. Enough said about that.

We ended up in the New Orleans RV Resort and Marina, a very nice place in a not-so-nice area, but they have roaming security and locked gates at night so we weren’t worried.

We decided that New Orleans drivers are worst in the world – deliberately running red lights, turning left in front of us, driving on the sidewalk/shoulder etc. Our Dog walker claimed that it was because the crime rate was so high the cops didn’t care about anything minor so people get away with a lot. They also apparently allow open cocktail driving in New Orleans, so that probably contributed quite a bit to the problem.

Be that as it may, we had a glorious time in New Orleans visiting antebellum sugar plantation, a sea plane flight over the Mississippi, a swamp boat tour complete with alligators, a walking tour of the French Quarter, a cajun cooking demonstration with lunch, and a Mississippi dinner cruise.

All in all it was a very good Caravan and we are looking forward to our next adventure with Fantasy RV Tours.

We are currently at mile 4285 on this road trip and we are turning to Red Bay Alabama for some quick repairs to the motorhome as follows:

  1. Repair of the outdoor Spyder keypad – we lost one row of numbers due to water instrusion
  2. Replacement of a lost leveling pad on the right rear of the motorhome
  3. Replacement of a bent leveling pad on the left rear of the motorhome
  4. Maybe repair of the inside Spyder touchpad – a madding intermittent failure.
  5. Aguahot service – recall the major issue we had on the way to Bemidji.
  6. Replacement of the front cracked windshield.

It will be a (hopefully) quick trip to Red Bay since we are due in the Tiffin Rally in Tucson.
