With the sunroof thoroughly taped off, we left St Regis and headed to Glacier National Park in Montana. There we were to meet Chris and Kim, family members.
We met in Glacier mostly the see the magnificent landscape, but Glacier surprised us with three closeup bear encounters – including one with a mama bear with three cubs.
Needless to say, the bears were the highlight of the trip.
While at Glacier, we decided to spend a day and cross into Canada and visit Glacier’s sister park Waterton in Alberta Canada.
That was a wise decision. Future travelers to Glacier would be well advised to also visit Waterton, enjoy the townm have drinks at the Prince of Wales hotel and visit the herd of Bison (sadly no pictures) just outside of the park
Logistics note: We stayed at Heart of the Glacier RV park just outside the east gate in St. Marys Montana. Staying on the east side has the advantage that you don’t need a ticket to get onto Going to the Sun road like you do if you approach from West Glacier. St. Marys is highly recommended.
