We left Calgary on Tuesday with the Stampede still going on and headed out to Banff.
Banff is a Canadian National Park known for its breathtaking beauty and skiing.
We stayed at Tunnel Village One which was a rustic campground outside of Banff. It is very hard to get reservations in Banff during the summer and while some of the Caravan had water and power – with one lucky person getting water power and sewer, we were among those selected to “boondock” in Tunnel Village One with no utilities.
That was ok with us. We designed this motorhome to be a boondocker so we happily camped in the trees with the wildlife around us.
We took a one day bus tour of the Banff area taking in many of the wonderful sights and locations, including the Lake Louise ski area where we had a most forgettable buffet lunch in the ski lodge.
The scenery however more than made up for the mediocre lunch.
The next day, our last full day in Banff, we decided to go explore that town itself. We parked for free at the train station (parking is dear in downtown Banff) and walked a short distance to the downtown. There we browsed the shops, had a vegetarian lunch (Claire was thrilled – Jerald gagged) before we returned that evening to prepare th RV for Jasper.
It should be noted that Banff is very dog briendly and Gigner had awonderufl timing walking.
