Comments: Thousand Trails reportedly acquired Blue Mesa around the start of March on 2022. Before that it was some sort of membership campground. TT was holding meetings with the Blue Mesa members during the time we were there.
This will easily be one of TTs more elegant properties. This has three club houses: One for kids, one family and one adult clubhouse. The family clubhouse has a large indoor swimming pool and hot tub. The adult clubhouse has a smaller outdoor pool and hot tub. During our stay the adult pool was swarming with kids.
There are quite a few cabins on the property – some of which appear to be owned. There were quite a few “seasonals” but the sheer size of the property minimized the seasonal impact. The cabins appeared to be fairly new, in excellent repair, and well appointed (we snuck peeks through the window).
The RV sites, all 380 of them, varied in quality, size and levelness. One set of sites had “Gazebos” (we had one) which was very nice. There is a tent camping area in the “wilderness”.
There was lots of wildlife. We saw mule deer chipmunks squirrels, cottontail rabbits and a few domestic cows in the campground proper. One person complained that the cows mooing kept her awake at night.
The close proximity of the Blue Mesa Reservoir, the Gunnison River, the Curecanti National Forest, Black Canyon National Park as well as the town of Gunnison make this a very desirable Thousand Trails. Many of the people there had brought boats and ATVs
